Clown Performance Lab
In this performance lab you will be working with scripted entrees and existing clown materials. We will use the experience we have built in previous classes and use those skills to bring life to centuries old clown scenes.
Clown Booster 2 (May)
Clown Booster is a two-hour workshop designed for all levels to get together, play, and experience what it takes to find your clown. A great introduction to those new to clowning and a good refresh for those clowns who are more experienced. Come and learn something new or flex your existing clown muscles with teachers Ashley Jones & Katherine Marino. Great for actors, performers, and humans of all kinds who are clown-curious or already converted clown lovers.

Suitable for clowns (beginners and experienced), actors, directors, dancers, writers, artists/performers in any field, as well as the playful and the curious from all walks of life. Aged 18+
Clowning is a performance tradition which has developed over the last few hundred years. Over the last century, ‘theatre’ or ‘character’ clowning developed alongside circus clowning. In recent decades, theatre clowning has been linked with the development of other art forms, such as physical theatre and mime. New clowning includes comedy and tragedy on a metaphysical level. Its focus is character, feelings, meanings, and ways of seeing the world, alongside the more familiar slapstick or ‘gags’.
Sign up to our four week session for an intensive deep dive into clown. We will explore a range of tools that exercise the performer’s imagination and provide you with essential practical skills to develop a comic character/clown. Through the use of improvisational exercises and games we explore one’s individual clown, shedding light on the parts of us which make us funny, ridiculous, rebellious, and unique. Constantly on the hunt for the game, you will begin discovering what it’s like for a clown to be complicit with their ensemble and their audience. Clowning is a rich tool for actors and performers of any discipline. Come ready to stretch your imagination, connect with your silly side and celebrate your mistakes.

PLAYFULNESS is at the heart of clowning So join us on April 16 for a FREE masterclass in playful performance where we will build the foundational elements of play that will become the building blocks for the clown workshops. Based on collective non-competitive games, this structured and surprisingly thought-provoking workshop is a must for clowns, artists and creative minds of all disciplines.
